How to Use
Enter the beginning value
Type the value at the start of the period â an initial investment, revenue figure, user count or any quantity that grows over time.
Enter the ending value
Type the value at the end of the period. It can be higher or lower than the beginning value; a lower value simply gives a negative CAGR.
Enter the number of years
Type how many years the growth took place over. Fractional years such as 2.5 are supported for periods that are not whole years.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is CAGR?
CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) is the constant annual rate that would grow a beginning value to an ending value over a number of years, assuming the growth compounds once per year. It smooths uneven year-to-year growth into a single representative rate.
How is CAGR calculated?
CAGR = (Ending Value Ãˇ Beginning Value)(1 Ãˇ Years) â 1. For example, growing from 10,000 to 18,000 over 5 years gives (1.8)(1/5) â 1 â 12.47% per year.
What is the difference between CAGR and total growth?
Total growth is the overall percentage change across the whole period, while CAGR is the equivalent per-year rate. A 50% total gain over 3 years is a CAGR of about 14.5% per year, because the annual growth compounds each year.
Can CAGR be negative?
Yes. If the ending value is lower than the beginning value, the CAGR is negative, showing the average annual rate of decline. The beginning value must be greater than zero for the formula to be defined.
