Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The extraction runs entirely in your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your video file is read locally, processed in memory and never transmitted anywhere. That also means the tool keeps working if your connection drops after the engine has loaded.

Why does the first extraction take longer?

The first run downloads the WebAssembly processing engine, which is roughly 25 MB. Your browser caches it, so every extraction after that starts immediately. Processing time itself depends on the length of the video and your device's speed.

Which video formats are supported?

MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, AVI and M4V, up to 500 MB per file. The audio inside those containers can be AAC, Opus, Vorbis, AC-3 or MP3 — it is decoded and re-encoded to MP3 regardless of the original codec.

Which bitrate should I choose?

192 kbps is a good default that most listeners cannot distinguish from the source. Pick 320 kbps for music you care about or plan to edit further, and 128 kbps for spoken word like podcasts, lectures or interviews where file size matters more than fidelity.
