Frequently Asked Questions

How is annual salary calculated from hourly rate?

Annual salary = Hourly rate × Hours per week × Weeks per year. With standard 40 hours/week and 52 weeks/year, multiply hourly rate by 2,080 for annual salary.

How do I account for paid time off?

Enter your PTO weeks to see adjusted calculations. If you get 2 weeks PTO, you're paid for 52 weeks but only work 50. The 'with PTO' figure shows your effective annual compensation.

Why might my actual paycheck differ?

This calculator shows gross (before-tax) amounts. Your net pay will be lower after federal, state, and local taxes, plus deductions for benefits, retirement, etc.

How do I compare job offers?

Convert both to the same time period (usually annual) for comparison. Consider that salaried positions often include benefits worth 20-30% of salary, while hourly positions may not.
