Frequently Asked Questions

How is reading time calculated?

Reading time is calculated by dividing the word count by the selected words-per-minute (WPM) rate. Average adult reading speed is about 200 WPM. We also add extra time for any images you specify.

What reading speed should I use?

For general audiences, use Average (200 WPM). Use Slow (150 WPM) for technical or academic content. Use Fast (300 WPM) for experienced readers or simple content. You can also set a custom WPM.

What is the complexity score?

The complexity score uses the Flesch Reading Ease formula, measuring how easy your text is to read. Scores range from 0-100, where higher scores mean easier reading. A score of 60-70 is considered standard for most audiences.

How do I add reading time to my website?

Use the Embed Code section to generate an HTML snippet. Choose from Simple (e.g., "5 min read"), Detailed (e.g., "5 min 30 sec read"), or Range (e.g., "4-6 min read") formats, then copy and paste the code into your blog or article template.
